Master’s Program of Health and Environmental Sciences
The Master’s Program of Health and Environmental Sciences contributes to the development of “health and environmental sciences” aiming at “developing a healthier society in harmony with the environment” from the point of view of health science, environmental science as well as the natural sciences as their foundation, through integrating the academic fields of health science, home economics, physical science, engineering and social science. Three areas of specialization have been designated: the Division of Nutrition and Health Sciences, the Division of Environmental Management, and the Division of Natural Sciences and Environment. The concept of education is to nurture highly creative graduates with top-level research skills and knowledge.
Division of Natural Sciences and Environment
The aim of the Health and Environmental Sciences program is to turn out competent graduates who can do for be benefit of the future generation interdisciplinary educational research about various complex phenomena related to the environment surrounding people based on natural science. Experiments, the study of theory and education are carried out from the perspective of material science and life science about the natural environment such as material recycling or the energy that binds molecules, cells and individual organisms.
Division of Nutrition and Health Sciences
The aim of this division is to cover a field ranging from basic research regarding food and health to application development or clinical correspondence, as well as to build sound eating habits and to analyze and solve problems regarding the cause and prevention of lifestyle-related diseases and food safety issues. Therefore, students are to be nurtured as highly trained specialists of food and nutrition, such as clinical nutritionists, researchers and developers at food industry companies, and as competent teachers and researchers at educational institutions. We are looking for applicants with an active and independent mind towards research activities such as experiments and investigations, etc.
Division of Environmental Management
In this division education and research take place about the mutual interaction between individuals and the community, and we clarify human physiology, psychology and behavioral traits. Specifically, the following activities are carried out: proposals and planning of urban and residential design, physiology and analysis of the behavior and living space of the design based on it, evaluation and planning of urban space based on universal design, data collection and analysis on the effect of such human behavior associated with environmental change. After scientifically and technologically grasping the essence of the border space between man and environment students focus their study on concretely proposing measures for the improvement of this border area to ameliorate our daily life.
