Intellectual history of Sadomasochism in Japan

Brief explanation of research

Azumi Kawahara is a lecturer of Fukuoka Women's University, International College of Arts and Sciences Department of International Liberal Arts, since 2020.
She majored in Japanese ancient history at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. Her current field is post-war intellectual history and culture. Her research focuses specifically on drawing the intellectual history of sadomasochism which is not as pathological but as notions which had close connections with democracy, patriotism, and modernity.
