Environmental Life Science Laboratory Design for Environmental Management

Welcome to Environmental Life Science Laboratory

In Japan, serious pollution was considered to be major environmental problems where the relationship between victims (ex. residents) and offenders (ex. governments, companies) were clear. At present, however, changes in our lifestyle seeking comfort and convenience causes a variety of environmental problems such as global warming, making ourselves both victims and offenders simultaneously. It is by no means other people's affairs. Sustainable development is strongly required to reconsider the relationship between human and nature, and what is more, the way how to behave in our daily life. From the viewpoint of risk, our daily lifestyle faces with difficulties from not only environmental problems, but also natural disasters, traffic accidents, crime, war, etc. How should we tackle with them to build a safe and secure society? We need to move away from easy or incorrect risk recognition lurking in our familiar living environment and call for action practices to solve various problems. With these recognitions, the Environmental Life Science Laboratory explores the design of environmental management centered on the following research themes.
