Department of Nutrition and Health Science
The educational purpose of our department is to develop specialists in food and health science with practical knowledge of food and the skills to contribute to the maintenance and promotion of health, prevention of disease, and also the improvement of nutrition.
The diet has a great influence on the human mind and body, and it is one of the most important means for promoting health through education and medical services. Thus, focusing on the connection between food and health characterizes the teaching and research of our department.
Through four years at our university, a student can qualify for national certification as a registered dietitian, a dietitian, a school dietitian or a high school or junior high school teacher (home economics).
Our graduates are actively involved as senior nutritionists for nutrition care management in facilities such as schools, health and welfare facilities, hospitals, as public servants who promote a balanced diet and nutrition education, as teachers at junior high school and high school (home economics), as members of product developments and publicity department in industries related to food, and as teachers and researchers at universities and research institutes.
