Department of Japanese Literature

In our department, we aim at developing students into individuals with thorough knowledge and refined skills concerning Japanese culture. A well-balanced curriculum is provided to teach them Japanese literature, Japanese-Chinese classics and Japanese linguistics, from ancient to modern times. Graduates play a variety of active roles in society; some become teachers at junior high schools and high schools, civil servants, librarians, or writers, while others work in publishing companies and broadcasting companies. In addition, recently more and more graduates work as teachers of Japanese for non-native speakers. Some go on to the graduate course of our university to devote themselves to a deeper study of Japanese literature.
