The Academic Principles of the Faculty of Human Environment of Sciences

The Faculty of Human Environment of Sciences strives to foster students’ abilities to scientifically analyze the natural environment, underpinned by good health and a healthy environment, in a society that is becoming more complex and diverse. It is our mission to nurture individuals who can comprehend their surroundings and are capable of maintaining and developing a living environment.

Objectives of the Faculty of Human Environment of Sciences

The Faculty of Human Environment Science conducts educational research that fulfills the aforementioned principles to accomplish the objectives detailed below.

  • 1. Nurturing well-educated individuals of good character
    By delivering high quality cultural education, we aim to foster individuals of good character who are well-educated in a wide range of disciplines.
  • 2. Developing professional knowledge of people, the environment, and the area relative to their relationship
    • At the Department of Environmental Science, we foster students who are able to apply their global knowledge of science and practical skills extensively to investigate the cause and mechanism of various problems related to “human life and the environment”.
    • The Department of Nutrition and Health Science aims to deliver fundamental education related to food and people, heath and the social environment. Furthermore, it offers specialized education necessary to foster professionals in food and nutrition, including nationally registered dietitians, so they may contribute to the advancement of the food environment.
    • Within the Department of Living Environment Science, we strive to educate individuals who can design and manage ideal living environments for residents by addressing various issues comprehensively at an individual and social environmental level, based on diversified requirements of people’s living environment, safety and comfort.
  • 3. Nurturing skills to realize a gender-equal society
    We aim to foster individuals who can exercise their abilities in a gender-equal society.
  • 4. Nurturing of practical skills in order to solve issues within communities
    We nurture practical skills that enable students to address various issues in communities through cooperation with a variety of people and organizations.
  • 5. Nurturing skills for transmitting and exchanging information To nurture communication skills so that the students are able to transmit information on their educational research accomplishments throughout Japan and beyond its borders, to exchange information concerning the task they are working on and anything related to it, as well as to find solutions for a problem.
